Premium email is a term used for professional grade email services that charge a fee as opposed to free email services that are supported by advertising. Premium email is used to indicate a higher level of professional care and service. Some email services offer a free basic version that is advertising supported along with and option to upgrade to a for-pay premium email version of the same service. The for pay premium email will have removed advertising along with increased storage and additional features like virus scanning and backup recovery. Premium email will have dedicated human support staff while advertising supported email usually have automatic support systems. Premium email also caters to needs of the professional business segment. Many premium email providers target small to midsize businesses (SMBs) that do not want to maintain their own email server.
